Common questions
Shield explained.
Is the free version really free?
Yes. No card required. No trial that auto-charges. No hidden upsell. The free tier is the foundation of the product. Shield exists only for people who want ongoing protection on top of the free core.
What does Shield actually do that the free tier doesn’t?
Four things: auto re-submission of your deletion requests every 45 days, dark web and breach monitoring for your email, phone, and address, new broker alerts when companies register with California’s CPPA, and monthly privacy reports showing you exactly what we removed.
Why do I need ongoing protection if I already deleted my data?
Because brokers refill. New scraping runs, new aggregators, new data partnerships — your name re-enters broker databases constantly. The CPPA requires brokers to check DROP every 45 days, but nothing stops them from adding you back between checks. Shield keeps pulling you out on the same 45-day cycle that brokers add you back in.
When does Shield launch?
August 1, 2026. That’s the date California data brokers are legally required to start processing DROP deletion requests. Until then, we’re building the waitlist. The first 1,000 founding members get 50% off the first year.
Can I cancel anytime?
One click. No retention call. No “are you sure?” dark pattern. We built the cancel button we wish every other service had. It’s right there on your dashboard.
Does Shield work outside California?
DROP is California-only. But the 20 major broker opt-outs ClickOff handles work nationally, and dark web monitoring is global. We’re tracking other state bills — Texas, Virginia, Colorado, New York — and will expand Shield as those laws come online.
How is Shield different from DeleteMe or Incogni?
Three ways. Price: $49/year vs $129 (DeleteMe) or $79 (Incogni). Scope: we cover DROP’s 500+ registered brokers plus 20 direct opt-outs plus 143 subscription cancellations in one platform. Free core: the one-time deletion is free forever, not a paid feature. Shield is a protection layer, not a paywall.
