Questions? Answers.
What is SB362 and who does it protect?
SB362 — California's Delete Act — gives every California resident the right to request deletion of their personal data from all registered data brokers through a single request. Data brokers must comply within 45 days or face fines of $200 per consumer per day, enforced by the California Privacy Protection Agency.
What is the FTC Click-to-Cancel rule?
The FTC's Click-to-Cancel rule requires companies to make cancellation as simple as sign-up. If you subscribed online in one click — you must be able to cancel online in one click. No mandatory phone calls, no retention mazes, no dark patterns. Violations are subject to FTC enforcement action and civil penalties.
What is a data broker and why should I care?
Data brokers collect, aggregate, and sell your personal information without your knowledge or consent. They sell this data to insurers, employers, landlords, marketers, and lenders. Your insurance premium, credit decision, and rental application can all be affected by broker data profiles you have never seen. They ping your profile approximately 4.5 times per year.
Do I have rights outside California?
Yes — 15 states have passed comprehensive privacy laws including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, Delaware, and New Hampshire. Federal protections also apply to all Americans under the FTC Act and COPPA.
What happens if a data broker ignores my deletion request?
Under SB362, brokers that fail to comply face fines of $200 per consumer per day enforced by the California Privacy Protection Agency. ClickOff helps you document non-compliance with timestamped receipts and assists with filing CPPA complaints. The receipt is your legal instrument — immutable, timestamped, and admissible.
Is ClickOff really free?
Yes — 100% free forever. No account required. ClickOff is funded by affiliate commissions when users choose to switch to recommended services — never from cancellations or deletion requests. Your rights are always free to exercise.
